Antelope beetles Dorcus parallelus - Say, 1823

Identification hints:
Dark brown or blackish.
15-26 mm long (including the mandibles).
Mandibles with one tooth on inner edge in male, and twice as long as those of female.
Occurs in north eastern USA.
Their larvae feed in dead or decaying logs and stumps of elm and other trees.

Notice how similar they are to Dorcus parallelipipedus, an European species.
